Motorola is gearing up to launch the Razr 50 in India, following the successful debut of the Razr 50 Ultra in July. This new addition to the Razr series promises to be a more accessible option, serving as the successor to the Razr 40, which was introduced alongside the high-end Razr 40 Ultra last year. The Razr 50 has already been unveiled in China and is known as the Motorola Razr+ 2024 in the US markets.
The official teaser for the Motorola Razr 50 was shared on the brand’s X (formerly Twitter) account, generating excitement among fans. While the teaser video does not reveal too many specifics, it highlights some of the key features of this upcoming clamshell foldable smartphone.
One of the standout features of the Motorola Razr 50 is its new design, which now closely resembles the ultra-premium Razr 50 Ultra. The device boasts a significantly larger 3.6-inch cover display, a substantial upgrade from the 1.5-inch strip seen on the previous model. This new pOLED cover screen, featuring a 90Hz refresh rate, is expected to offer enhanced usability, similar to the Razr 50 Ultra’s cover display.
The front of the Razr 50 is distinguished by a prominent band above the cover display, available in a variety of textures or finishes. This design element sets it apart from the edge-to-edge display of the more expensive Ultra variant.
The teaser video also showcases the various functionalities of the larger cover display. Users can now run apps directly on the cover screen and even use the primary cameras, which are integrated into the display, for capturing high-quality selfies and videos.
Under the hood, the Motorola Razr 50 is expected to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300X SoC, offering variants with 8GB/12GB of RAM and 256GB/512GB of internal storage. The camera setup is likely to mirror that of the global variant, featuring a 50-megapixel primary camera with OIS and a 13-megapixel ultra-wide camera with autofocus. The inner folding display is a 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, housing a 32-megapixel selfie camera.
Powering the Razr 50 is a 4,200mAh battery with support for 30W wired charging and 15W wireless charging. Another notable upgrade is the IPX8 water resistance rating, which surpasses the water-repellent coating of its predecessor, the Razr 40.
Motorola’s upcoming Razr 50 promises a blend of style, functionality, and performance, making it a highly anticipated addition to the Indian smartphone market.
