Disney+ Hotstar to Stream Live Sports in Dolby Vision in India

Disney+ Hotstar has announced that it will stream live sports events, including the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, in Dolby Vision in India. This makes Disney+ Hotstar the first video streaming service globally to offer live cricket matches in Dolby Vision.

Premium Subscribers to Enjoy Dolby Vision

The streaming in Dolby Vision will only be available to Premium subscribers. According to Disney+ Hotstar, this technology will allow viewers to experience “lifelike colors, sharp contrast, and rich detail.” Mukund Acharya, Disney+ Hotstar’s Head of Engineering, stated, “We are delighted to introduce Dolby Vision for our Premium-only users to experience the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 on their screens like never before.”

Requirements for Dolby Vision

To take advantage of Dolby Vision, viewers will need 4K TVs compatible with the technology. The announcement did not mention support for streaming on Dolby Vision-certified smartphones.

Airtel’s New Plans

Airtel has introduced new plans for its prepaid, postpaid, and Xstream Fiber broadband customers. These plans, which offer up to 3GB of data per day, include a free Disney+ Hotstar subscription. The aim is to enhance the viewing experience of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.

Collaboration with ShareChat and Moj

Disney+ Hotstar has also partnered with social media platform ShareChat. This collaboration will bring match highlights to ShareChat and Moj, the short video streaming platform also owned by ShareChat. Fans will be able to watch clips of boundaries, wickets, and field plays in regional languages, as well as studio analysis featuring cricket commentators.
