Since its inception in 2018, Realme has launched only a few powerful smartphones, with just two making it to India. The last was the Realme GT 2 Pro in 2022, delivering flagship performance for ₹49,999. Fast-forward two years, and flagship expectations have evolved. With the rise of AI-driven features, 8GB RAM is no longer sufficient. Enter Realme GT 7 Pro, starting at ₹59,999 for the 12GB + 256GB variant, boasting a top-tier processor and minimal compromises, solidifying its place in the premium market.

  • Front Camera: 16-megapixel
  • Rear Cameras: 50-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 50-megapixel
  • RAM: 12GB, 16GB
  • Storage: 256GB, 512GB
  • Battery: 5800mAh (Indian variant)
  • Operating System: Android 15

Note: We reviewed the Chinese model with a 6,500mAh battery, compared to the Indian model’s 5,800mAh. This is the only difference between the two variants.

Realme GT 7 Pro Design: Elegant and Robust

  • Dimensions: 162.45mm x 76.89mm x 8.55mm
  • Weight: 220.2 grams
  • Durability: IP69

The GT 7 Pro shifts Realme’s design philosophy, moving away from the flashy aesthetics of previous GT models. The 3D-curved glass panels on both sides give it a slim, premium look.

Available in Mars Orange and Galaxy Grey, the Mars Orange finish combines a metallic bronze frame with a vibrant, matte-textured back featuring a wavy pattern resembling gradient map terrain. The raised camera module with a beveled border adds to the sci-fi appeal.

Despite its metal frame and large battery, the phone feels balanced in hand, offering a premium heft. The IP69 rating—the highest for durability—provides protection against dust and pressurized water, including steam cleaning. It also supports underwater photography with a dedicated mode, though the warranty excludes such usage.

Realme GT 7 Pro Display: Exceptional Clarity

  • Size: 6.78-inch, 2780 x 1,264 pixels
  • Type: AMOLED, 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling
  • Protection: Gorilla Glass 7i

The Realme GT 7 Pro offers one of the best displays in its segment. With a 6,500-nit peak brightness, co-developed with Samsung, the ECO display paired with LTPO 8T technology improves battery efficiency. Tests show excellent results, as detailed in the Battery section.

Color reproduction is natural, with options to enhance vibrancy via display settings. While the quad-curved display adds immersion, reflections on the edges can distract outdoors. The glass is also a smudge magnet, but the slim bezels enhance the aesthetic.

Software: Familiar with a Touch of AI

  • Version: Android 15, Realme UI 6.0
  • Commitment: 3 years of updates, 4 years of security patches

Realme has streamlined pre-installed apps to just three—Amazon, Myntra, and Facebook—all uninstallable. The AI suite within the software includes tools like AI UnBlur and AI Eraser, but results fall short of competitors like Google Pixel. Features like Live Alerts mimic Apple’s Dynamic Island, showing notifications and activity bubbles, but with limited app support.

Performance: Top-Notch

  • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite
  • RAM: 12/16GB (LPDDR5X)
  • Storage: 256/512GB (UFS 4.0)

Realme has integrated AI enhancements to boost gaming performance and quality. Features like AI Gaming Super Resolution and AI Gaming Super Frame deliver exceptional results, with Genshin Impact running at 120fps on the highest settings without overheating.

Benchmarks reveal impressive scores, rivaling even Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro Max in certain areas.

Cameras: Impressive Yet Inconsistent

  • Primary: 50MP, f/1.8, OIS
  • Telephoto: 50MP, f/2.65, OIS
  • Ultrawide: 8MP, f/2.2
  • Selfie: 16MP, f/2.45

The primary camera captures vibrant photos with good dynamic range, but HDR processing can sometimes overdo details. Low-light results show good detail but flattened textures.

The 3X optical zoom telephoto camera performs well in daylight but loses sharpness in low light. The ultrawide lens, however, struggles with texture and detail.

Selfies are sharp in daylight with decent edge detection but lose detail in low light. Video recording is average, with 4K 30fps showing limited detail due to aggressive noise reduction. The ultrawide lens lacks 4K recording capabilities.

Battery: Long-lasting and Quick-Charging

  • Capacity: 6,500mAh (Chinese model), 5,800mAh (Indian model)
  • Charging: 120W SuperVOOC

The “Titan” battery achieved 27 hours 35 minutes in video loop tests. Charging speeds are impressive, with a 99% charge in 30 minutes for the Chinese variant. The Indian model, though smaller in capacity, promises similar charging speeds.

Verdict

The Realme GT 7 Pro delivers flagship-level performance, robust battery life, and durability at a competitive price. While its cameras and AI tools fall short compared to rivals, its raw performance and premium features make it a compelling choice in the premium segment.

For better cameras, consider the OnePlus 12, with the OnePlus 13 and iQoo 13 also on the horizon. But for those prioritizing performance and battery, the GT 7 Pro is hard to beat. A future price drop could make it even more appealing.
