JioCinema has quietly launched a new Premium annual plan, a month after introducing a monthly subscription option. This plan allows users to stream videos at up to 4K resolution without ads (except for sports and live events). The annual plan is more affordable than those from rival services and cheaper than JioCinema’s original, now-discontinued premium plan. An introductory offer cuts the price of the new annual subscription by 50 percent.
Details of the New Plan
On Saturday, JioCinema confirmed the launch of the new Premium Annual plan, now listed on its website for Rs. 599. With the introductory offer, customers can get the subscription for just Rs. 299. After the first 12 months, users will be charged the full price.
Benefits of the Premium Annual Plan
According to JioCinema, the Premium Annual plan offers the same benefits as the monthly plan, including ad-free streaming of premium content from HBO, Paramount, Peacock, and Warner Bros., all in 4K resolution on one device. Users can also download content for offline viewing.
Comparison with Other Plans
The new Premium Annual plan at Rs. 299 offers much better value than the Premium Monthly plan, which costs Rs. 59 per month. It is also significantly cheaper than the previous annual plan, which was priced at Rs. 999 before being discontinued last month.
Family Subscription Plan
Last month, JioCinema introduced a Premium Family subscription priced at Rs. 149, with an introductory offer lowering the first month’s price to Rs. 89. There is no information yet on whether an annual version of the Premium Family plan will be offered.
Comparing OTT Plans
Even at Rs. 59 per month, JioCinema’s subscription is cheaper than Netflix, Disney+ Hotstar, and Amazon Prime Video. Netflix’s mobile-only plan starts at Rs. 149 per month, while both Disney+ Hotstar and Amazon Prime Video charge Rs. 299 per month. The annual cost for Disney+ Hotstar and Amazon Prime Video is Rs. 1,499.
